Fandom High Security Office, Thursday, 10/6

Spending the day replaying the public security footage from Parents' Weekend for her own entertainment was in no way a wrong thing, right? After all, it gave Bo something to snortle over, identified the hot relatives she'd missed meeting, and distracted her still-racing thoughts from the impressive amount of bombshells that last weekend had managed to drop on her despite not having any family of her own to deal with.

Of course, the postcard on her desk counteracted the distraction effect every time she glanced at it, but it still made her grin.

No classes today, and Kenzi had a question for Bo. Also, wanted to see if the butter sculpture was still there on the cameras. "Hey hey. I bring Slushy. How's your week going?" And a sluuuuurp of her own.

"Kenzi!" Bo, don't spill the slushies when you jump up to give someone an overexcited hug-dance. "Kenzikenzikenzi! Guess what?"

"Whoa!" Kenzi blinked, never having seen Bo this bouncy before, hugged her back and offered warily, "'Dite's has a half-off sale? The circus is in town? What?"

"Better! Or...maybe weirder." She was still trying to decide. "No, better. Plus I didn't need to buy extra batteries or watch where I was walking near the elephant cages. I met another succubus!"

Kenzi's eyes bugged out and she nearly dropped her Slushy. "You what? Holy crap! Wait, when? How? Hey, did you guys make out?"

"No!" Geez, why would you assume just because---oh, wait. "Well, yes. Sort of. But she was macking on Tiny and I pulled her off, so it was kind of like a Wild Kingdom territory thing for a minute."

Kenzi sat on Bo's main desk, eyes still huge, and said, "Macking on Tiny? Ewwww. Wait, territory? Like... ewwwww." She started giggling. "Was there pudding involved in this wrestling for territory?"

"Hey, Tiny's not a bad kisser." There were people for whom that would be TMI. Bo did not feel Kenzi fell into that category. Bo did not feel Kenzi had ever heard of that category. "And there was no pudding. Or peeing - I checked on that one, because ewww."

Kenzi had heard of TMI once. But she'd never really experienced it.

"Good thing! 'Cause that's not something you'd want to find out now. So what did she say? She's sure you're like her? Was she a good kisser? Hey, did you guys end up like those magnets--" Kenzi pantomimed them with a SCHWAK! noise. "And have to push off so you didn't get stuck?" Kenzi bounced. "This is so exciting! More superpowered amazons!"

"Not Amazons." Bo made pretty much the same face she'd made when Saskia had said the word. "Wait for this. ...Fairies."

"Whut." That was Kenzi's look of total disbelief. "Tell me you're not going to grow wings or start getting points on your ears."

"No wings, no points. Or at least Saskia doesn't have any, and she's... older than me. I got 'a lady never tells' when I ~~lalalaoffscreen~~ asked how old."

Maybe it was time to stop smooshing her slushie and drink from it so she had voice left to tell the rest of the story.

"I think there might actually be wingy-pointy Fae; she rambled off this whole list of types that I only caught a few of 'cause I was concentrating on the part where we really are called succubi, Mitchell didn't just pull that out of his ass after watching too many horror movies."

"Wings would've been awesome, you gotta admit. But so not fair with everything else." Kenzi inhaled part of her Slushy, coughed, and said, "So wait, there's more types of you out there? And you're really a demon? COOOOOOOOOL. And this Saskia, she seems cool? You're not going to get all gnarly like the old werewolves on Wendy the Werewolf Stalker?"

"Not if I end up looking anything like her. She's smokin'." Some might say there was a resemblance even now, but Bo hadn't exactly been standing in front of a mirror and comparing herself. "And not a demon. Maybe. Probably. More like lots of things people couldn't explain and called demons or fairies or whatever were really us."

"So you'll get hotter as you get older?... you really are a different species." Kenzi sighed at the unfairness of evolution, and slurped again, then frowned. "So how come I never ran into any of those things except you, back home? How come we're not a whole urban fantasy world out of Charles DeLint, with pixies serving me coffee?"

"Because your hands aren't broken and you can get your own damn coffee?" Bo snorted, then looked down at her own hands. Holding a slushie. "Or I can get you some coffee, whatever. The Fae are too busy making sure humans don't know they exist. Or at least don't know they're not human."

"That would be good," Kenzi said brightly. Then frowned. "Well, that blows. What, are they trying to get out of paying taxes? Because if that's it, they could let the rest of us in on the scam."

"They..." Which felt wrong, but we was just as weird. Even if in this case it was super, super true. "We feed on humans," she pointed out. "There's a good reason to stay under the radar by itself."

"Okay, point." Kenzi frowned, playing with her straw. "Hey, did she know your parents, maybe? I mean, I guess you would've mentioned that first, but... maybe she knows how to find them."

Bo leaned on her desk and glanced down at her hands again, but not because she was studying her drink. "She didn't know who they might've been, but there's a pretty good chance they're dead, or I'd have been raised in a Fae clan to begin with."

"Oh." Kenzi might not miss hers much any of the time, but that was totally different. She put an arm around Bo's shoulders. "I'm sorry. That sucks." Bad news from twenty-years ago. Still bad news.

"It does." Bo leaned her head over enough to knock it lightly against Kenzi's. "But I might have relatives out there somewhere. Hell, Saskia's probably my thirty-seventh cousin a hundred times removed." Or something.

"That's something. Yeah. You're not the only one!" Kenzi tightened her grip a minute, pulling back to beam at Bo. "Is she still around, this Saskia? I wanna meet her."

Bo twisted around to grab the postcard and flipped it up to show Kenzi. "She was only here for the weekend, then it was off to..." She had to squint to make out the tiny caption printed at the bottom of the card. "Sweden. At least when she mailed this."

Kenzi took the card and read it, then snorted a laugh. "Yeah, she's one of you all right. Or you're one of her." She grinned. "But this is awesome! If you ever go back, you can go looking for your peeps and say 'hey, I'm new, let's party' and there'll be a ton of people you won't succubi to death!" SCORE!!

Aaaand there was the thing that had Bo jumping back and forth between giddy, worried, guilty, and watching digital video of strangers perving on their little siblings' classmates to distract herself. "Funny you should mention that. Apparently succubi don't usually ... us people to death."

"Wait what?" Blinkety-blink-blink-- "Um? So why-- how? Kenzi says 'bzuh?'"

"Finding out how not to do that is one of the many birds-and-bees speeches you miss when you're raised by well-meaning people who use Mary Jane Waits Until She Gets Married to explain sex instead."

"Did your parents actually say that?" Kenzi asked, diverted. "Or something really like that? Waiting? Holy wow, no wonder you were messed up. So so so, what did Saskia say? Do you need like magic underwear or a supercondom not to kill people?"

"Not in so many words, but they wouldn't have been cool with it happening when it did. And don't I wish." By which Bo meant she was totally checking Dite's the next chance she got to see if somebody from some dimension actually made something like that. "The deep succubus secret to not killing people when you have sex with them is...practice."

"Um." Kenzi raised a finger, then frowned. "Wait. So you mean, just-- doing it even more? That's it?"

Bo took another rattling sip of her drink and shook her head. "Sort of? But not waiting until I have to feed, which goes against everything I've done to try to keep people safe for the last ten years." Which had been, instead, making it almost certain to be fatal when she finally gave in.

"Ohhhhh. So you're not, kind of, vacuum-in-space sucking their lives out? That kinda makes sense. Now that I think about it." Kenzi slurped her coffee Slushy again, and looked at Bo, then bumped her arm against hers again. "So this is all kinds of cool."

"Maybe." Bo still had the uncertainty going there, but it was hard not to grin. "Probably. Kind of. Mostly. Yeah."

"Eeeee!" Another glomp-hug. "See? All kinds of awesome!" Kenzi grinned at her and then asked the important question: "So somewhere out there, you maybe have a really hot brother?"

Bo burst into laughter. "Who could suck your soul out for you?"

"Hey, if I've got one, it's under lock and key. Somewhere else." Kenzi grinned again. "Naaaah, forget it, I have a Toby. Your brother can mack on Topher or something."

"What kind of security guard would I be if I let my hot brother that I don't have walk around macking on the students?"

"A really really popular one?" Heeeee.
