This week's postcard was from Barbados, actually, not Morocco. It still put a much-needed smile on Bo's face as she relaxed in front of the tv with a Guinness in honor of otherabsent friends.

"Cool!" It was awesome having older friends. "And no, no, I'd ask Mr. Caffrey if he was still here, 'cause he gets that, but I know you've gotta be a Role Model for your job." Sigh. "I miss Mr. Caffrey... Anyway. Toby wouldn't let me."
"Score one for Toby." Bo's dealing with fences weren't usually over stolen goods, per se, after all. More like... things which had been acquired from people who would never have need of them again. "So you need a responsible adult for... what, exactly?"
"So I can claim the reward! Or so I can have it put in a savings account until I'm eighteen and then have it," Kenzi explained. "Toby and I are both underage, so when we showed up with the goods and explained how we 'found' them, they had to check out the lead, but it turns out that the Maryland Historical Society had a twenty-thousand dollar reward for some of the letters this guy swiped. And after taxes that's eight k for meeeeeee," Kenzi finally took a breath. "But I don't really want the Commonwealth to know I have it, they'll just put it in a trust forever, so please, please, please can you be my Responsible Adult?"
"Ahhhhhhhhh." That made a disturbing amount of sense, for something Kenzi was involved in. "Well. There's one thing I have to know before I decide something like that, and you have to tell me the truth," Bo said very seriously, with a searching look.
"Then I'm gonna go with door number two, and say no before that." Kenzi beamed, got up on her knees, bouncing. "So that's yes? Yes? You'll come sign for it as a school official and responsible adult and promise that I won't give it to terrorists?"
"Something about banking and it almost being ten thousand dollars and me not being an American national," Kenzi said impatiently. "Paperwork is stupid." She bounced off the couch and glomped Bo. "Thank you thank you thank you bling for you thank you!"
"It'll be a surprise!" Kenzi hugged her harder, then bounced back a little. "Yes! New boots! More coffees! Maybe a jacket!" She grinned. "And it was even legal. I still think we could've got more for fencing it, but Toby resisted all my attempts at persuasion." Well, not all of them.
Bo eyed her. "Is it legal for me to know about this?" The persuasion, not the new boots. With Kenzi, new boots were a given; at least she was paying for them.
"I'll break him down eventually," Kenzi mused. "He's a very good kisser in the meantime." She grinned. "We're both underage, so we're both illegal? Does that count?"
"HA." Just 'cause Bo waited 'til she was legal... okay, yeah, not the topic or the point. "Right. Bath tub time! Because I would steal that thing if it didn't weight about ten tons."
